Recently I saw a recipe for crispy garbanzo beans, and I thought to myself, "self? Why not do something like this with our favorite seasonings?" After all, we've had roasted inca corn with chili, roasted inca corn with sea salt, and all sorts of edamame and soy snacks.
and thus we've created a new family favorite...
Spicy Garbanzo Crunch
Well, the first thing to know about spicy garbanzo crunch is that you can make it with a number of different seasonings. Pictured here is Cumin and Red Chile. I'm making up a batch of delicious Green Chili crunch as I type.
The recipe is easy:
1 can of garbanzo beans
2-3 heaping tbs of your favorite spice mix*
some spray oil
Drain your garbanzo beans in a collender. Dry them thoroughly.
While rolling them lightly in the collender (by shaking the collender) spray lightly with oil.
Pour into a bowl containing your spices and shake or mix lightly until beans are evenly coated.
Pour onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Back for 30 minutes at 400°
Now you can serve them hot or at room temp. I like them slightly warm. Not only do they make a great snack food, but we toss them on salads and along side of other foods we want a little crunch to.
* Suggested spices: Red Chile, Cumin, Cinnamon, Sea Salt, Green Chile, Sweet Chile, Taco Seasoning, Onion and Salt, Wasabi

I want to try them and have like 10 cans in my pantry. I am just lazy LOL
ReplyDeleteI like it because it takes less than a moment to prepare, you toss them in the oven, and forget about them for a half hour. I can't think of anything easier to make!
