I should have bought lottery tickets today.

I've been having a good day. My teeth are in better shape than I thought: One cavity, in the tooth that was damaged by the impacted wisdom tooth. Bad news? Next appointment (so I can get my filling) is June 6th. I'll have to take the train down here.

Today someone posted a new futon on OnlineTraders for $60. OK, it's got the worlds lousiest mattress, although the mattress IS new, it's a cheapie. But I can get a NICE innerspring for about $150 when I want to pay that, and to sit (or nap on) for now it's fine. Now we once again have seating for everyone, and it'll take up MUCH less space as a bed. Hurray for our team.

Today I've got on my great new Coldwater Creek jeans, a really cool t-shirt, and I'm feeling pretty darn good about myself. I also went to Ross this morning to look for a purse to replace the one that broke last week (I always have one purse I can wear cross body when I'm traveling) and I hadn't found anything in the thrift shops. So I found this AMAZING purse that's kinda a Wedgewood lilac color (that's grayish purple) with a dark taupe (faux) gator trim. Yeah, it was more than I LIKE to pay for a purse, but only $5 more than the used Coach (that was, in all fairness, in mint condition) at Thrift Town that I was so tempted to buy earlier. It's certainly not the most I've paid for a purse, but then anything that's double digits seems way too much when you're a thrift shopper! Anyway, after hemming and hawing over it for about a half hour, I finally gave myself permission to buy the darn thing, because (A) I knew I'd MORE than get use out of the thing because it's absolutely practical and (B) I felt like a million bucks when I had the thing slung over my shoulder.

And I may live on a pittance, but I love being mistaken for someone with money... and when I can do it for the price I do, I love it even more.

The only unhappy news is that my trip to Las Cruces was canceled. I'm thinking, though, that I may take the family up to Santa Fe, look at the apartments, and have lunch at the Jambo Cafe. If I can afford it, I may even take the girls to the Georgia O'Keefe museum, which my youngest LOVES. So depending on when Cay's check comes in and how we're doing with the menu planning (and food) for this month, we may treat ourselves to a one day mini-vacation. I've pretty much decided that I'm NOT going to work that week... but I'm a sucker, and know that unless I steel myself I'll be at the BioPark far too much.

Today is golden, and I feel amazingly happy and hopeful.
